A Plane RIde to Heaven
It's 2016 on a Sunday morning and you just watched the highlights from Lebrons comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA finals. It was surreal, something that had never been done before and as you look at the fans in the stands you see this eruption of emotion. Damn you need to feel something like that right about now. An hour later you're in church doing the same routine. Reminded of the same life. You're running on autopilot dying for a reason to take control of the plane again. Dying for an excuse to be present. You've been trying to find a breakthrough in your career but it's been five years. You're conflicted on if you should keep pressing on or find something new to pursue. You come to church every week but even that's becoming numb. After minutes of dosing off you finally decide to pay attention to the pastor and what he's saying. He speaks on the story of Joseph and adversity and its resonating with you in a way you've never experienced before. For the first time in years you're feeling something. You turn off autopilot and take control of the flight. At this point you're invested in the story and believe its a divine moment that was meant for you. Suddenly this emotion comes over you and you lose control of the plane. Music starts playing and you start dancing uncontrollably. Shouting uncontrollably. Feeling uncontrollably. You've experienced a rupture from your dull routine and it's exhilarating it, for the first time in a long time you're in the moment. But you look around and it's not just you. Everyone including the pastor is sharing this experience and you all are in total praise breaking free from the etiquette, the pressures, the supposed to's. You're lost in a crowd of people from all walks of lives. Criminals, doctors, athletes, teachers, the afflicted, the deceased, the broken, the fixed, everyone's there. This experience is no longer physical its spiritual and its exactly what you needed. You can no longer feel your body you can only feel the expression. You're crying, laughing, shouting, jumping, dancing and for the first time hoping. Everyone's let go of the plane and freedom isn't just a concept anymore it's ownership. The experience ends just as fast as it started but you leave church different. You're optimistic. You're daring. You get home and the highlights are still playing and for the first time in your life you wish those fans could have the experience you just had. From this moment on you're flying the plane and determined on your destination. Throwing normal away saved your life and you realized that everyone dies but not everyone lives. Because of this ecstasy and rupture you will forever live. You've found your agency and there's freedom at last. Thank the lord for a praise break.
